Here's how to make it part of your weekly self-care routine for a rejuvenated body and mind...
A brief history of dry brushing:
Dry body brushing is an ancient practice with roots in multiple cultures, all recognising its benefits for skin health, circulation, and overall wellbeing. The Egyptians (known for their advanced beauty rituals) used natural fibres and exfoliants to keep their skin smooth and radiant. Similarly, the Japanese have long used dry brushes to invigorate the skin, while the Greeks and Romans incorporated dry scrubbing techniques into their bathing rituals to cleanse and refresh the body.
Over time, these traditions have evolved, with modern wellness enthusiasts embracing dry brushing as a simple yet effective self-care practice.
Three reasons dry brush:
Full Body Exfoliation → the main benefit of dry brushing is exfoliation. Helping to remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling softer, smoother and primed for body care.
Improved Circulation → dry brushing with light pressure stimulates lymphatic drainage and blood flow, promoting better circulation to boost your inner glow.
Promotes Relaxation → the brushing motion can have a calming effect and may even help reduce stress when practiced regularly, especially when combined with deep breathing and essential oils.
How to dry brush:
➀ Start on dry skin before showering, use light, upward strokes toward your heart.
➁ Begin at your feet, working your way up, using gentle, intentional pressure to stimulate circulation.
➂ Focus on any rough areas and spend extra time on elbows, knees, and dry patches.
➃ Shower and rinse off dead skin cells before following up with ultra-nourishing SMOOTH Body Oil to restore hydration.
➄ Make it a habit of it! We recommend dry brushing at least 3 times a week for best results.
How to look after your dry brush:
Your BUFF Body Dry Brush has been designed to invigorate your skin, but if the plant-based bristles feel a little firm at first, don’t worry - you can easily soften them. Massage a drop of fabric conditioner into the bristles, run your fingers through the brush with care, rinse and leave to air dry. Be mindful not to soak the wood.
